Allied HealthDegrees in the Allied Health and Nursing programs are not offered on the LSU-BR campus. Students who wish to pursue one of these degrees primarily seek to complete prerequisites at LSU-BR to transfer to the professional program of their choice. Students planning to enter LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans or Shreveport should follow the curricula outlined in by the LSUHSC. Students preparing to enter other professional schools are strongly suggested to consult with representatives of that program. The school of Nursing is housed at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Students interested in pursuing a nursing Degree should contact Mrs. Essie Cockrell in 150 Allen Hall. Both the LSU Health Sciences Centers in New Orleans and Shreveport offer degrees in the School of Allied Health. Students interested in programs offered at the School of Allied Health should contact Anthony Oster in 150 Himes Hall. While every attempt is made to keep the most accurate information for each program available online, students are strongly advised to meet with either Mrs. Cockrell or Mr. Oster once a semester to remain abreast of the most current prerequisites and specific admission requirements for each program offered at the LSUHSC. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are professional programs that offer a graduate degree. Students interested in these majors must first obtain an undergraduate degree at LSU. Click here for more information about the current programs and admission requirements. Students who are interested in other programs that do not fall under the categories listed below such as pharmacy, optometry, radiologist technology, etc., are urged to contact the professional program that they wish to attend for a list of their prerequisites since LSU and LSU Health Sciences Center do not offer these programs. It may be possible to take prerequisites for other colleges and universities at LSU but the authority to grant such a request is the domain of the outside college or university.
